Lysing Matrix A is a general purpose lysing matrix for bead beating based lysis of hard to break samples.
Its preferred use is in extraction of genomic DNA from variety of samples such as plant and animal tissues, archeological samples, fossils, forensic samples, and other solids which are difficult to lyse. Each tube is labelled with the orange cap and each impact-resistant 2.0 ml tube contains optimized quantities of processed mesh 30/40 garnet matrix and one 1/4 inch ceramic sphere. Extra 1/4 inch ceramic spheres are packaged separately and should be used for most difficult samples, for example tooth, bones, wood and similar.
Lysing Matrix A is in general the most effective universal lysing matrix for all type of solid sample types, except soil. The lysate produced by Lysing Matrix A is most often used for isolation of genomic DNA and proteins, and this matrix is compatible with any existing purification protocol.
