This stainless steel lysing matrix tube is designed for samples that are difficult to grind with standard lysing matrix tubes. Some samples require a grinding protocol that can damage plastic tubes before the sample is fully processed.
These tubes are machined from 308 stainless steel stock, which provides much greater strength than conventional aluminum tubes and allows for unlimited use. The stainless steel cap has an embedded O-ring, ensuring there is no leakage during use. Both the tube and cap can be cleaned and reused as often as needed.
Stainless steel tubes are ideal for dry and wet grinding, homogenization, and lysis of the most challenging samples. These include dried seeds such as corn, soybeans, and wheat; plant tissues such as tomato, wood, bark, and roots; biomineralized animal samples such as claws, hooves, bones, teeth, and hair; highly collagenized samples such as cartilage, skin, and tough connective tissue; and inorganic samples such as rocks, sediments, and minerals. They are also suitable for processing plastics, composites, and industrial waste such as printed circuit boards and building materials.
